This year we started our deer hunting season with Travis Dazel doing a little archery hunting. Travis got a deer and we were unable to track and find it. He saw a few deer and let us know that there are promising deer for us out there. Travis did find a deer that the neighboring Hanson family archery shot on their property and it ran to ours and died.
This year our group has twelve people (Glenn, Arlan, Jared, Tim, Shannon, Tom, Morgan, Little Tony, Matthew, Dave, Scott and Harlan) with guests Scott Weiberg and his wife.
We have had all good shots this year so far - near the head, neck or front shoulder. We will have good meat from these!
Tuesday the 8th, no deer shot here today.
Wednesday the 9th, no deer shot here today.
Friday the 11th, Morgan (66lb., doe fawn) shot a deer south of Glenn's house grove. He was happy to get it as a few people had shot at this deer. This fawn walked around in the field for about a half hour and was shot at 14 times prior to finally being chased out of the grove and being found by Morgan.
Saturday the 12th, Arlan (65lb., doe fawn) shot a deer up north in Aaron's woods as we were chasing it to the north and it went out the side so Arlan could step out and get a shot.
Sunday the 13th, the last day of MN rifle deer hunting for our area. Scott found and shot a doe fawn after we processed our deer meat from the rest of the week. We started cutting about 8:30am and we were done at about 3:30pm with cleanup and all that. It was a nice day with warm fall temperature, no snow to be seen this deer hunting season. There is a storm supposedly coming the following Thursday, so Scott Weberg left early this am to get back to California in front of the storm. Tony will leave for Arizona the following Sunday, so he has all week to visit and help in the farm.
