This year our group has eleven people (Glenn, Jared, Arlan, Tim, Shannon, Shawn, Tony, Little Tony, Matt, Bob and Scott). Opening day (Saturday the 7th) we shot 6 deer, then Sunday the 8th we shot 2 deer. So for the first weekend we had 8 deer hanging.
Monday the 9th we shot 3 deer. Tuesday the 10th we shot 1 deer. Wednesday the 11th we shot 1 deer. Thursday we were skunked, but we got another on Friday the 13th.
On Saturday we decided to cut up the meat we had hanging. It was a good day, we were done by mid afternoon.
A total of 14 deer for the season with 4 adult bucks (which were pretty good sized), 5 adult does and 5 fawns. There's gonna be some good eating this winter. Me and dad canned quite a few pints of our portion this year.
We gathered to eat and tell stories at the Hofstad Farm in the shop/deer camp again. We are starting to get a collection of antler mounts hanging around now!
We will continue to do our part to lower the deer population while having fun.
