Feb 14, 2017

Hello everyone;

I am working on a friends and family list.  Our server created a new program, so I am starting over.  If you have received this, you will received regular e-mails over the next 11 days.

Tonight we are in
Fargo.  We fly out early in the morning, so decided to come and stay the night in Fargo.  Our Itinerary for the flight out:   Fargo to Chi town, Chicago to Newark, Newark to Tel Aviv.  We arrive in Tel Aviv at 9:30 AM, Thurs.  Once we have managed to get through Israel Customs, we board a bus and head for Tiberias, which is on the W. shores of the Sea of Galilee.

My next post to you will be from Tiberias.

Good morning from the Holy Land.  Our trip over was uneventful, which is the way we all had hoped for.  So far, we have traveled for a few miles along the Mediterranean Sea cost and visited the old city of Caesarea (by the Sea), and Mt. Carmel.  From there we came down to the Sea of Galilee and are staying in a resort on the S. shores of the Sea.  We have 16 acres that are ours for the next three nights.

Today, we head up to
Nazareth for most of the day.

Good morning family and friends;
Yesterday we traveled up to
Nazareth and visited the old and the new of the city.  In the new stand the Church of the Annuciation which stands over the house of Mary.  There are openings in the floor and the walls which let us see the place where she lived, including the pillars of the synagogue of the old town.

From there we traveled to Magiddo, the ancient city that sets on the crossroads of the highway to the sea and the road to
Jerusalem.  The city is mentioned in the Book of Joshua and in 2 Kings, and the work of Solomon.

From there we traveled over to Haifa, the port city where we traveled to the highest point in the city were we could see a beautiful garden, full views of the harbor and the Mediterranean Sea.

The pictures are from the
Nazareth looking out over the Jezreel Valley, and the Sea of Galilee from our resort just a 1/4 m from where it lets water out into the Jordan River.

Today we will have more to see.

Feb 21 & 22, 2017

Hello Family and Friends;

We have been busy travelers these past two days.  On Tuesday we traveled up from the
Dead Sea through Masada (Herod's Fortress), then into the deserts of the Negev where we stopped at a wilderness camp for lunch and a camel ride.   From there we traveled N. to the Valley of Elah where David killed Goliath, then on into the Holy City.

On Wednesday, we spent the entire day inside the walls of the ancient city, where we walked the narrow streets of
Jerusalem, even the Via Delarosa.  We ended the day with a sound and light show about the history of Jerusalem.

About the pictures, some of  you have responded that you did not receive all the pictures.  The pictures are from the
Dead Sea, the desert of the Negev, the Church of the Nativity, and inside the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Jerusalem.

Dear Family and Friends;

The pictures wont send from here because there are too many people on the Wi-Fi in the hotel.

Today we visited the
Temple Mount, then down to the city of David, then through the aqua duct back up to the Western Wall through the tunnels.  From there we went to the Holocaust Museum, and the Israel Museum.  Our last stop of the day was the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane.

Our dear Shirley K. who is 87, has been a wonder to all of us as she has found that all of the steps and more walking than we anticipated has been challenging.  We are all amazed over her resilience.  On our last stop today, the Garden of the
Gethsemane, was an almost vertical drop along the ancient path from the Mount of Olives down to the Garden.  She made the trip. All of us were over whelmed with joy when she arrived in the Garden assisted by her ever and always trusted pilgrims who have journeyed with her.  After seeing the Garden with some olive trees over 2000 years old, we entered into the chapel.  In the chapel is a rock.  If, as the artists have patriated  for us that Jesus reclined upon a rock when he was praying in agony, this was the rock.  I took her by the hand and we walked together to kneel at the rock and pray.

Tomorrow we travel over the Garden Tomb.  There we all but complete our pilgrimage.  We will see a tomb set into a garden.  There is a vineyard there, a wine press, a cistern, a place for us to celebrate the Lord's Supper.

From there we travel to a couple of more Old Testament sites, the place of the Prophet Samuel and Herod the Great's tomb.  After that, our farewell supper, then off to Tel Aviv for our journey home.

Thank you all for your prayers,
Tim and Candy
